The foreign policy discussion group Great Decisions is back – hosted this year at both the downtown Klamath County Library (126 S. 3rd St.) and the South Suburban Branch Library (3625 Summers Lane)!

We’ll meet for eight weeks: on Thursdays at the downtown library from 1 pm to 3 pm starting January 22nd; and weekends on Saturdays at the South Suburban library from 1 pm to 3 pm starting January 24th. (You’ll chose whether you want to be in the Thursday group or the Saturday group when you register.)

Each participant in Great Decisions must purchase a copy of the 2026 essay book, offered at the price of $35, at the downtown library’s Information & Reference desk. Great Decisions is open to any interested adult regardless of political or any other affiliations.

Topics for this year’s cycle include: foreign policy in Trump’s second administration; Trump’s tariffs and their effects on the world economy; U.S.-China relations; increasing risks of nuclear proliferation; Ukraine and the future of NATO and European security; power shifts in the authority of the World Bank, United Nations, and other multi-national organizations; the United States’ engagements in Africa; and the future of human rights and international law.

The Great Decisions format asks participants to read the weekly articles from the Great Decisions book and then discuss the topic at the library. Group members may take turns leading the sessions and may also contribute additional research information if they wish.

Space is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis as participants pay for the required textbook. The deadline for reserving your spot in either group is Monday, January 12th. For more information, call Ben Luff at 882-8894 ext. 32 or email him at bluff@klamathlibrary.org.
