Set in Rome in the period just after World War II and the fall of Benito Mussolini's Fascist government, There's Still Tomorrow folllows Delia, a mother of three in an abusive marriage. Friends of hers try to convince her to leave her husband, but in the delicate economy of postwar Italy, Delia doubts that she'll be able to support herself without him. But Delia has two upcoming opportunities to change her life – she could break the cycle of abuse before her eldest daughter marries her domineering fiancée, and she could vote for the first time in her life in the upcoming general election.
