Join us Wednesday, Sept. 2nd at 5:30 pm for a screening of Meeting with Pol Pot, a based-on-a-true-story drama about interviewing the Cambodian dictator in 1978.
Loosely based on the book When the War Was Over: Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge Revolution by American journalist Elizabeth Becker about her interview with Pol Pot, the film follows three fictional French journalists as they travel to Cambodia (then called Democratic Kampuchea) for an exclusive interview with Pol Pot, the leader of the Khmer Rouge. One of the three is a communist, and appears to believe the regime's claims of success at face value. His companions are more skeptical – especially when their hosts refuse to let them visit the countryside or talk to people critical of the government. When they uncover atrocities after slipping away from their escort, the danger they are in becomes clear...
Meeting with Pol Pot is unrated, in French and Khmer with subtitles, and runs for 1 hour, 52 minutes.
