Freedom to Read Celebration

We here at the Klamath County Library support your freedom to read! There are efforts to ban books on various topics all over the country, so celebrating your ability to read whatever you want is more important than ever.

Join us on Wednesday, October 29th at 5:30 pm for refreshments, all-ages activities, and a lively discussion about censorship!

For more information, call us at 541-882-8894.

Family Halloween Celebration

Join us for Halloween fun at the downtown library! We're hanging out on Thursday, October 30th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm so we don't cut into precious trick-or-treating time.

We'll have carnival games, crafts, and a screening of the 90's Disney Channel classic Halloweentown. (The film follows a young girl who discovers she comes from a family of witches involved in a fight against evil! It's rated TV-G and runs for 1 hour, 24 minutes.)

This event is for all ages. For more information, call us at 541-882-8894.

Emergency Preparedness Training

You never know when disaster can strike -- learn how to prepare for common household emergencies and natural disasters on Saturday, October 11th from 1 pm to 3 pm at the downtown Klamath County Library.

Presented by the National Alliance on Mental Illness and the federal Community Emergency Response Team program, this workshop will set you up so that if the worst does happen, you'll be equipped with a plan.

For more information, call us at 541-882-8894.

Adult Murder Mystery: The Midnight Manor

Join us for our latest Murder Mystery roleplaying game for adults on Wednesday, October 29th at 5:30pm!

Welcome to the Midnight Manor, a foreboding estate in quiet Midnight Springs. Twenty years ago, a terrible incident at the manor left it with a reputation for hauntings and curses. But a newcomer – the wealthy Viktor Gastin – has acquired the property and aims to restore it to its former glory (because it wouldn't be a horror premise without someone ignoring blatant signs of an evil curse).

Banned Book Club: Fahrenheit 451

It was a pleasure to burn.

This chilling opening line starts Ray Bradbury's sci-fi dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451. Read and discuss it with us on Friday, October 24th at 3pm!

Fahrenheit 451 follows Guy Montag, a fireman. Except, in Guy's world, firemen don't fight fires...  they start them, specifically to torch forbidden books (and the houses where they're hidden). He gradually becomes disillusioned with his career in censorship enforcement, though, and starts to hoard a few books himself...
